Nigel
Nigel is our beautiful golden retriever boy who came into our care suffering with a liver shunt alongside a severe worm burden.
The damage caused by the worms has had a huge impact on his little body and because of this Nigel now requires long term antibiotics to support his organs and keep him stable. His medication costs £30 for just a 10 day course. On top of this, we have spent months trialling different liver support diets in an attempt to find something that works for him. The only diet Nigel can successfully tolerate is a specialist raw liver support diet, which currently costs £10 per day.
We are also urgently trying to raise funds for a specialist scan so we can better understand Nigel’s liver shunt and determine whether any other organs have been affected - the estimate given for this is £400 and he’s booked in for Wednesday the 10th of June.
Although Nigel is finally beginning to gain weight and improve, his journey has been a long one. The photos from when he first arrived show just how poorly this gorgeous boy truly was.
Despite everything, Nigel remains the sweetest soul, and we are committed to continuing his care for as long as he needs us.
