Dolly

Dolly came into our care extremely poorly. At just 10 weeks old, she is teeny tiny for her age and had been suffering from constant sickness and diarrhoea.

Yesterday afternoon, Dolly’s condition suddenly became critical and we had no choice but to rush her straight to the vets, where she was admitted and kept in overnight.

Since being hospitalised, Dolly has received IV fluids, blood tests and glucose monitoring, which showed that her glucose levels were dangerously low and she’s anaemic. This morning she is having an ultrasound and may also need a bile acid stimulation test as we try to find out exactly what is making this tiny girl so unwell.

So far, Dolly’s hospital stay and investigations have cost the rescue £740 and this may continue to rise depending on what her tests show and what treatment she needs next.

We would never grudge paying for veterinary treatment for any dog in our care and we will always do everything we possibly can for them but we also have to be honest and say that right now, we are struggling.

Dolly’s unexpected hospital bill has come at an already incredibly expensive time for the rescue. Bernie has needed a second surgery, Barney has had his pre-op appointments with surgery still to come, Stitch has his hernia repaired and alongside all of this we have the everyday costs of caring for all of our foster dogs.

We have also had multiple tube fed puppies surrendered to us over the past fortnight, meaning we’ve needed to restock feeding tubes, syringes, milk and all of the other supplies needed to keep these tiny babies going around the clock.

We know times are difficult for everyone, so please never feel pressured to donate. But if you are in a position to spare anything, it all adds up and genuinely helps us continue saying yes to dogs like Dolly when they need us most.

If you can’t donate, sharing Dolly’s fundraiser is just as appreciated.

Thank you, as always, for supporting our little rescue and the dogs who need us. We’ll keep everyone updated as soon as we know more about Dolly.
