Stitch
Our little potato Stitch came into rescue at just 8 weeks old with a large umbilical hernia that we knew would eventually need surgery. Because he was still so tiny, we gave him some time to grow, gain strength and get himself ready for his operation.
Stitch has now had his first surgery and thankfully his large umbilical hernia has been successfully repaired.
Unfortunately, just before his operation we discovered that things weren’t quite as straightforward as we had hoped. Stitch also has another two hernias in his groin, meaning our little lad needs further surgery.
Stitch didn’t cope particularly well with the anaesthetic during his first operation, so although his vet was able to repair the hernia that was causing us the most concern, we made the decision not to put his little body through any more than was absolutely necessary at the time.
His first operation cost the rescue £[AMOUNT] and once he has fully recovered and our vet feels it is safe to do so, Stitch will need to return for another operation to repair the remaining hernias.
What we originally expected to be one surgery has therefore turned into a much longer journey for our little potato and another unexpected veterinary bill for the rescue.
For now, Stitch is recovering really well and getting plenty of rest and TLC. We’ll continue working closely with his vet and when the time is right, get those final hernias repaired so he can put all of this behind him and get on with being a puppy.
If you can spare even £1 towards Stitch’s veterinary care and upcoming surgery, we would be so grateful. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us cover his treatment and means we can continue being there for the next little one who needs us.
And if you can’t donate, sharing Stitch’s fundraiser helps just as much.
Thank you, as always, for supporting Stitch and Midlands Cleft Rescue.
